Catholics all over the world believe that the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three children: Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta in 1917, at the height of WWI, near the town of Fatima in Portugal. The Lady appeared six times, revealing three secrets and concluding the last visit with the miracle of the sun. Now people of many faiths and persuasions are gaining interest in the Fatima secrets revealed to the children one hundred years ago.
Francisco and Jacinta died as children. Pope Francis canonized them as children saints in 2017. Lucia lived on as a Discalced Carmelite nun, writing her memoirs of the Marian event.
Sister Lucia recounted in her third memoir: “Our Lady showed us a great sea of fire which seemed to be under the earth. Plunged in this fire were demons and souls in human form, like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, floating about in the conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames that issued from within themselves together with great clouds of smoke, now falling back on every side like sparks in a huge fire, without weight or equilibrium, and amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fear.” The description of hell conveyed the urgency of prayer, repentance, and what happens when we forget God.
The children maintained that the Lady told them, “If people do not cease offending God, a worse one [war] will break out during the Pontificate of Pius XI.” Our Lady also asked the Pope through the children to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart. On March 25, 1984 Pope John Paul II fulfilled the consecration of Russia and the whole world to Mary’s Immaculate Heart. On Christmas Day 1991, Communism gave way to the new independent Russian State.
Sister Lucia was ordered by the Bishop of Leiria to write out the third secret before her death, she did so with Our Lady's permission.
Sister Lucia said, “at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: 'Penance, Penance, Penance!'.” The third part of the secret ends with the death of the Pope, church officials, and many men and women of the faith.
On October 13, 1917, the last day of the appearance of the Lady to the three children, a crowd of about 70,000 people gathered waiting for a miracle. People in the crowd reported being able to look directly at the sun without harm to their eyes. They described the sun as being veiled with a luster of pearl. The sky, trees, people’s clothes, everything had a blue hue, which turned to yellow. Others reported seeing everything in an amethyst color as well. Witnesses reported that the sun seemed to whirl very fast and appeared to be hurling toward the earth. Those who were miles away from the crowd reported seeing the same things. Many kneeled and repented, because of the glorious miracle.
The urgent message of Our Lady of Fatima is one of conversion, repentance, and prayer. In this spirit, Corsi Nation has devoted October 13, 2018 as a day of repentance and prayer for the United States and the world. Please join us in prayer and repentance on that day.
