Presidential Candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in an interview heaped praise on the Chinese leadership and said he believed the US could have a positive relationship due to "they have done more to address poverty in the history of civilization."
Bernie Sanders recently criticized the Chinese government and their authoritarian rule with the people of Hong Kong.
In a tweet, Bernie said: "The demonstrations in Hong Kong are an inspiration to us all. It is the right of all people to protest for a better future. We stand with these brave protesters and call on the Chinese government to refrain from violence. "
Along with the social credit system, the economic difficulties with US tariffs on Chinese products, and the dishonest portrayal of the Hong Kong Protests as being violent in an attempt to revoke freedoms granted to Hong Kongers and bring in military intervention, the praise seems somewhat incongruous in light of frequent violations of Chinese work laws by employers and factories.
