#Unity4J announces its 4th online vigil in support of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks on Saturday, September 1 starting at 10am Eastern, 7am Pacific (2pm UTC).
This fourth vigil, led by Joe Lauria, Editor in Chief of Consortium News, is organized as a “daisy-chain style digital relay”—consisting of twenty-four vigil participants (journalists and activists), each speaking for 30-minutes and then introducing the next speaker.
#Unity4J seeks to remind the audience of “the urgent and pressing need to promote solidarity for Julian Assange, WikiLeaks, press freedom and human rights.”
#Unity4J has registered “over 150 million impressions on Twitter, and the last online vigil drew in over 220,000 viewers on Periscope.”
On Sunday, September 2, Unity4J Day will support Assange by way of an “online non-violent digital army . . . originating from all four corners of the globe.” The organizers are seeking “to turn online support into real world action.”Add a comment
